Life outside work.

Today I shall unleash photos that I’ve taken over the past couple of weeks. I’m quite sad that I’ve lost my photographic streak since coming here because it’s been all work and no play for this dull boy, I’m afraid. Work, even work that you’re passionate about, is drudgery. Always.

Perhaps I don’t fancy the concept of work. But I do enjoy what my work lets me do. The events I’ve attended were pretty awesome, and one of them even gave me a 1:50 scale diecast model helicopter, which I thought was great, although such gifts for press rarely come by.

I have to say though that I love my weekends. Weekends mean rest, and rest is such a commodity. You may even say I work as hard as I just to get to the weekends. But anyway, I digress. Pictures!

Hello weekend!

I love 4-day work weeks. The past 2 weeks I’ve been working 4-day weeks with 4 days of holiday in between. I love Easter holiday in HK. Too bad I’ll only experience it once during my time here. And wow, in 4 days’ time it’ll be 1 month that I’ve been here. How time flies indeed!

There’s still so much I haven’t explored in HK. But I better go PP my photos from Macau. Will blog again either later or tomorrow!

Time for another update!

I guess what I said about updating often isn’t very true, nor is what I said about taking a lot of photos, or what I said about my 365 project starting again in HK. As a matter of fact, I feel like deleting my 365 blog. It’s really collecting cyber dust in cyberspace.

This week’s been one of lessons and mistakes. I really ought to start getting myself together and keep in mind that I’m now working and it is important we produce a good product. Other than that, everything’s pretty fine. In fact, Hongkong’s pretty cool and I’m still glad I’m here.

Work’s beginning to pick up. It’s just that sometimes I make mistakes that I shouldn’t and wouldn’t if I were back home. I hope this holiday feeling leaves me soon.

This week brought me to my first event, a press conference aboard the Costa Classica, a cruise ship belonging to Europe’s largest cruise line, Costa Cruises. It was announced that the company was deploying the Costa Classica as its second cruise liner in Asia.

The whole thing went pretty well, and I even got to do a one-on-one interview with Costa Cruises’ Sales and Marketing Director while the HK media had to crowd together to interview the VP of Asia Pac. Made me feel really good.

Tomorrow I’m heading up to Macau for a holiday trip and am going to a spa at the MGM Grand Hotel so I can write an article for the mag. I could use a good pampering, heh. At least i don’t have to pay anything for it.

More photos after I get back!

The second weekend!

Many people say TGIF, including myself. But why shouldn’t we TGIS as well? Thank God it’s Saturday and Thank God it’s Sunday!

The past week has been a rather low-action one more or less, because almost all or even all the editors weren’t in office at least once during the week. In fact, Friday was one of the busiest days because two out of four editors were in.

My goodness. I just noticed that my forearms are peeling. Hm… I figure it’s because I got sunburnt at Pulau Ubin before I came here. Maybe the cold delays the peeling process. It’s been pretty cold lately. My colleague Wendy says that it’s still okay because the humidity is only about 70 or so percent. If it gets up to 90 or so (which it always does in Singapore, by the way), then it’ll be pretty bad because there’s a lot more water content in the air.

Anyway, that was random. On to another random note. Yesterday I bought six pairs of Giordano briefs and four pairs of Giordano socks. And damn they’re comfy! I feel like going to buy some more actually. If you guys who read my blog wear briefs, try out Giordano briefs. For socks, well everyone wears socks lah. So if you get to buy the socks, do!

Anyway, I ought to be going out soon. Why stay home on a weekend right? Ought to be getting some food as well. Need to start spending less money. Gosh.

Apple Macbook Wheel unveiled at MacWorld

Apple CEO Steve Jobs recently announced at the annual MacWorld conference a new product set to revolutionise the way people use their laptops.

The Apple Macbook Wheel is the world’s first keyboard-less laptop. In place of a keyboard is a giant Apple clickwheel where the keyboard used to be.

Apple says that they wanted to make things as simple as possible for Apple users, with one Apple user even saying that he’ll buy anything that’s shiny and made by Apple.

Personally, I think this product is amazing. Typing can be such a chore sometimes, and although the clickwheel will take some getting used to, as with all iPod clickwheels and even the iTouch and iPhone scrollers, it’s bound to catch on.

I mean, how many times have you typed the line “I’m too tired to type”? Such inconveniences are avoided with the new Macbook Wheel. The 8GB version will retail for US$2,599 and US$9,960 for a 40GB model. Pricy, I know. But a worthy price for such innovation? Possibly.
