One more day.

Yesterday as I was sitting on the steps outside Han’s at the Bugis Library (though I like to call it Central Library) eating my apple pie and drinking my Coke Light, it strangely dawned upon me how much we (or I perhaps) have grown up.
It’s been 18 going on 19 years of my life so far. I’ve been through going on 13 years of education. One more day and we’ll be done with Year 2.
Just one more day.
Studying for 6 hours with Jesley yesterday was good. Mind-numbing, but good. I can’t wait for tomorrow.
[Edit]
I forgot to mention this earlier but I got my CCA Gold award today. 78 points and counting babeh!

In the midst of mental files, perceptual screens and consumer buying behaviour (if those taking advert don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s time to start studying), I’ve decided to come post an update (although not entirely overdue, but still).
Several things have been happening that’s made the last couple of days most note-worthy. See this story probably starts on Wednesday (though it could’ve possibly gone much further back than that) when I decided to ditch studying and go on a happy-go-lucky-take-what-we-can-get shoot at MacRitchie Reservoir with Kai Wen and Feng Hua. It was happily welcome (though a bit guiltily) because I didn’t really wanna study anyway. And I figured I could always study later that night.
In my opinion it wasn’t a very fruitful shoot, mainly because I had my Crumpler slung across my not-so-muscular shoulders and hence I was horribly uncomfortable as opposed to if I had brought my Tamrac along. The fact that I wore jeans and the sun was positively sweltering didn’t help at all either.
But anyway, we got through the shoot fine and rampaged on to Island Creamery where I figure the second part of this story comes into play. After getting a scoop of Strawberry Sorbet (which was positively delicious, by the way) and a can of Coke Light (health is wealth!) and cooling down a bit, we went our separate ways and I ate my Subway cookies (which had been baking in my bag since lunch). Chocolate Chip was a bad idea. It flamed my throat. Oatmeal Raisin was good though.
Guess what? Sore throat and a headache insued. I was terribly grumpy while studying that evening (the fact that advert notes are quite disorganised and completely not standardised didn’t help) as Audrey will atest to and decided to retire early for the night with the hope that my ailments would subside by morning.
They didn’t.
I woke up the next day with 37.0 degrees which wasn’t bad really, but just bad enough to make me not study the entire day and just rest it off. By 4PM, I decided to sleep and when I woke up at 8PM, the fever had gone up to 38.5 degrees. Amazing huh.
I spent the rest of the evening doing nothing very much, resting mostly. But after a night’s rest, I’m up and active again, and my temperature’s gone down (latest reading is 36.8). Man, so much for not falling sick for the past 2 years. Guess I spoke too soon. Ah well, I’d better get back to studying. Take care of yourselves people! The weather’s really sucked lately.
Tomorrow will come too soon.

So the break is over. We have to get back to work.
But I’m not done playing!
Too bad. You have exams in 1 weeks’ time. Stop dilly-dallying.
Sigh.
Yup, I will start studying. But only tomorrow. Countdown: 7 days
Talk about originality.

It’s been confirmed that Sandy and I are gonna be staying at the Hongkong Institute of Technology where the previous batch of interns stayed. I just happened to go to their website and upon looking at their banner, I discovered a grave injustice. Take a look.
What the hell man! The best is yet to be? Excuse me!
Memory.
Memories, Like the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were
This evening I went to yet another play with my parents, for the Hua Yi Chinese Festival at the Esplanade. Tonight’s show is titled The Village or 《宝岛一村》 in Chinese and is directed by Stan Lai (赖声川), a famous Taiwanese stage director.
The show is about a group of soldiers who flee China together with Chiang Kai Shek and find themselves in Taiwan living in small assigned houses within what was called a Dependent’s Village (眷村). What initially appears to be a temporary abode ends up being a permanent home for the 700,000 soldiers who go to Taiwan.
This play was, to be honest, really good. I went to another play by Stan Lai last year called As Shadows 《如影随行》 and was similarly awed by the performance. However, this year’s performance was especially meaningful, because one of the 700,000 soldiers was my grandfather.
An unlikely profession.

One more presentation to go! AND WE’RE DONE!
I’m sorry blog I’ve been neglecting you lately. But to be honest who really watches this space anyway? (with RSS feeding you can simply be updated on when I post. It’s much easier)
Anyway, things have been real hectic lately and I’m glad it’s almost over. Just a brief rundown of how the presentations were.
MRM presentation was OWNAGE. I didn’t mean to smoke my way through, but the data analysis was really 100% proper interpretation. Plus it all made sense and Mr Sharpe liked it so all good I reckon! And MM was one big smoke-fest. Smoked the entire thing and I think soon we’ll all get lung cancer.
Oh I’ve recently discovered I have a talent in smoking. Isn’t it wonderful?
Now, I do feel a little bit guilty because I’ve knowingly missed a few days of 365 project. I think about 4. But damn it, I’ve been busy and the photos would’ve come out sub-standard anyway. So I’m gonna give you some quality pictures soon. Fingers crossed I can deliver.
Oh yes, Hongkong has been confirmed for the thousandth time. Met up with our BT Assistant Editor Julian Tan on Wednesday after MM and MRM presentations. She (yes she) ran us through what’s gonna happen, asked us a couple of questions about ourselves, etc. Basically a nice getting-to-know-you session since she’s Singaporean and on home leave until Monday. Oh and she paid for our drinks (said it can be counted as company expenses) how nice is that! It was Coffee Bean too. I think I’m gonna like this job heh.
And yes, TV Prod demo show. We brought in Mr Christopher Aw, an avid magician who doesn’t do magic full time, but does it on the weekends. He’s a wonderful chap who did so much to help us and we ended up with a pretty good show, all things considered. It was quite a fun time shooting despite all the screaming and small arguments, and all the fears that this would be a horrible failure. Oh and I found out that Chris is the husband of one of Barker’s English teachers. Small world man.
So yes, this is definitely a long one. For now all that’s left is advert and well, thankfully we’ll be done with that before we know it. Might have to pull an all-nighter or two to get there though, but we’ll get there.
Finally,
I am Joshua Tan and I am almost done with assignments.

I actually wanted to go to bed and I had turned off my Mac and everything already but I had the urge to post in Chinese. So I’m sorry to those who don’t read Chinese, but apart from this beginning part, the rest of the post will be in Chinese.
